Time Warner's 2000 agreement to be acquired by
Internet colossus AOL will blend Time Warner's legendary
brands with AOL's online dominance. Time Warner -- the
world's largest media company -- owns 75% of Time Warner
Entertainment (AT&T owns the other 25%), which
comprises Warner Bros., Time Warner Cable, and other
entertainment holdings. Time Warner's TBS subsidiary
brings operations such as CNN, New Line Cinema, and the
Atlanta Braves to the Time Warner table. Publishing arm
Time Inc. is the #1 US magazine publisher (People, Time
and houses book operations such as Time Life. The
company's Warner Music Group houses an array of record
labels including Atlantic and Elektra.
Time Warner Entertainment

Time Warner Entertainment (TWE) will show you a
good time. The company's Warner Bros. (which generates
nearly half of TWE's revenue) oversees film, TV, and
video operations, as well as the majority-owned WB
Television Network. TWE also owns HBO, which, in turn,
owns 50% of Comedy Central. Generating about one-third of
TWE's revenue are its cable systems (Time Warner Cable
and the 65%-owned TWE-Advance/Newhouse partnership),
which serve nearly 11 million subscribers. AT&T owns
25% of TWE, but 75%-owner Time Warner controls the
management of TWE. The company will become a member of
the AOL Time Warner family after the Internet giant's
acquisition of Time Warner.
Time Warner Telecom

Time waits for no business, so Time Warner Telecom
is hurrying to build out its fiber-optic networks. The
company, which operates as a competitive local-exchange
carrier (CLEC) in 21 metropolitan US markets, offers
integrated broadband communications services primarily to
long-distance carriers, ISPs, wireless companies, and
government agencies. It also offers long-distance
services to small- and medium-sized businesses. Time
Warner Telecom is 48%-owned by Time Warner, which
Internet giant America Online is buying. Other major
stakeholders are Advance/Newhouse Partnership and
MediaOne Group.

from the promotional offers to their cable
customers, this service should provide an
important bandwidth.

pay-per-view basis.
