SonyCA 1999 / 1999 revenue: 63 MM$ (+10,5%) All eyes are on Sony -- or, more likely, on its PlayStation home video game system, which alone accounts for about 11% of the electronics and entertainment giant's worldwide sales. Sony, the #2 consumer electronics firm, after Matsushita, also makes a host of other products, including semiconductors, DVD players, batteries, cameras, MiniDisc and Walkman stereo systems, computer monitors, and flat-screen TVs. The company's TVs, VCRs, stereos, PlayStations, and other electronics products account for about two-thirds of revenues. Sony's entertainment assets include Columbia TriStar (movies and TV shows) and record labels Columbia and Epic. The company also operates insurance and finance businesses. Sony Pictures EntertainmentCA 1999 / 1999 revenue: 4,5 MM$ (-6,1%) Sony Pictures Entertainment is one Big Daddy of moviemaking. The subsidiary of multimedia giant Sony produces movies through Columbia Pictures (Random Hearts), distributes independent films through Sony Pictures Classics (The Opposite of Sex), and produces TV programs through Columbia TriStar Television (Just Shoot Me and Jeopardy!). Sony Pictures Entertainment is also developing a production group focusing on family fare. Home video distribution, studio facilities, interests in international television networks, the Game Show Network, and 40% of movie theater chain Loews Cineplex Entertainment are also part of the mix. Contenu / ContentSony possède une place de choix sur le terrain du contenu avec les studios de cinéma Columbia et Tri-Star ou les maisons de disques Columbia et Epic. Sony holds a string position on the content market with its movie studios Columbia and Tri-Star as well as with record studios Columbia and Epic.
