The third-largest US cable operator, behind AT&T Broadband and Time Warner, Comcast is upgrading its systems to fiber-optics and offering broadband services such as digital cable and high-speed cable modem Internet access. The company owns stakes in electronic retailer QVC and programmer E! Entertainment Television, among others. It also has a two-thirds stake in Comcast-Spectacor, a venture that owns Philadelphia's Flyers hockey team and 76ers basketball team.
